Collection consists primarily of Arleth family correspondence, mostly letters of Frederick “Fritz” Arleth Jr. to his wife, Christina, and letters of Minnie (Mina) Hieber to her sister Mrs. Christina Arleth. (These letters are in German, and English translations appear at the bottom of this finding aid.) The collection also includes receipts, promissory notes, statements, and accounts mostly of Christopher F. Arleth while in St. Louis.

This collection is comprised of the naturalization document issued to Henry Lyon by the Clerk of the St. Louis Circuit Court on 4 April 1857, Stephen Rice. Lyon applied for citizenship and proved to the court that he had been in the U.S. for five years, had lived in the state of Missouri for one year, renounced all foreign allegiances, and declared that he would support the Constitution of the United States.
