Scope and Contents The diary contains daily entries beginning on May 27, 1861, in Iowa and ending on December 25, 1861, in St. Louis at Benton Barracks. The pages are numbered from 1 to 119; misnumbered pages resulted in no page 63. There are two entries for December 25, one of which is out of order on page 93.
