This collection contains five photographs showing members of the W. G. May family, dating from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. Family members shown include Howard May as a baby and young boy; Frances Dulty Thompson as a young girl; W. A. May; Georgia Gambrill (aunt of W. G. May); and Mrs. W. A. May (Lillie Hardgrave). Three of the photographs are studio portraits, while the other two are snapshots taken outside of a family home.

The letter is undated but the envelope is postmarked from Alton, Illinois, on October 3, 1927, just days after a tornado swept through the City of St. Louis on September 29th.
