Scope and Contents The Mark Doering Collection contains 142 slides taken by Doering while serving with the 509th Radio Research Unit in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Slides predominantly show exterior views of military bases and soldiers, particularly Long Binh base. These slides include views of helicopters and planes, both in the air and on the ground. After joining the Army in February 1943, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre in campaigns of the Western Pacific until February 1946.
