Wyckoff Family Papers

Scope and Contents

The Wyckoff Family Papers consist primarily of correspondence of George and Josephine Wyckoff and their family and friends. The bulk of the correspondence dates from the Civil War years and contains letters of George Wyckoff, while serving in the 18th Missouri Infantry, and other soldiers in Iowa, Indiana, and Missouri regiments.

This collection contains 2 photographs showing Dorothy Yawitz, Samuel Roth, and their wedding party on December 18, 1924. The wedding party includes a best man, maid of honor, and two flower girls. Yawitz is wearing a flapper-style wedding dress with flower-shaped embroidery and heavy beading, as well as a long, tulle veil. The dress was purchased for Dorothy in France by a buyer from Famous-Barr.

Elizabeth Nulsen Young Diaries

Michael Zimmer Photograph Collection

Scope and Contents

The Michael Zimmer Photograph Collection contains two photographs of Michael Zimmer, an artist who died of AIDS at the age of 33. One photograph, taken when Zimmer was 31, shows him posed next to a piece of his art while at the Kansas City Art Institute. The second photograph, taken when Zimmer was 33, shows him using a wheelchair at a gay pride event in Washington, D. C. The photographs show Zimmer's rapid deterioration after his AIDS diagnosis.
