 Collection
Identifier: P0991

Scope and Contents

The Richard B. Teitelman Collection contains 8 photographs documenting the career of Judge Richard B. Teitelman, the first Jewish judge to serve with the Supreme Court of Missouri and the first legally blind state Supreme Court judge in the United States. Five snapshots show Judge Teitelman at various unidentified events. Two of these photographs may have been taken at his appointment to the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District. Three additional photographs have been removed from their frames. One of these is an undated photograph showing Judge Teitelman being sworn in, with the seal of the State of Missouri in the background. One, also undated, shows Judge Teitelman, dressed in judge's robes, giving a speech with the seal of the State of Missouri in the background. One shows Judge Teitelman posed with Judge Ronnie White in 1996, signed by Judge White. Judge White became the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court of Missouri in 1995 and was appointed chief justice in 2003.
