Letter signed J.G. Shultz, Maysville, to John Dougherty. It is six months since I have had the pleasure of seeing you and I am anxious to hear news of the thriving city of Iatan. I occasionally get letters from Weston, but they seldom give me any news. It must be jealousy that causes the silence. I would like to sell my portion of the property and Samuels of the Land Office might be interested. I am doing very well here in the iron business, but we are all worried that the tariff of ‘42 will be revoked and take away the present duty on iron.
