Photocopy of letter signed J. Belden, Glasgow, to Brother. Spring has been slow – corn is just coming up, oats are backward, wheat looks good, but there will be a very short crop of tobacco. Farmers are not making money. The citizens of Glasgow are very wide awake on the subject of railroads – hoping it will go through Glasgow. It will commence on the Mississippi River at Hannibal, on to Quincy to intersect the North Missouri R. Road not far from Allen, cross the Missouri and pass on through Southern part of the state.
