Letter signed Byrd Lockhart to Mr. Parker, Franklin. I have just time to state that you will receive a boat load of salt next Thursday. I have had much trouble in carrying on business for 2 weeks owing to sickness, nor have I more than half hands enough to work. I wish and think that by the 6th of Oct. I will have you the 100 barrels of salt in Franklin. If I should not it will be owing to the improbability of getting barrels in time. I have 70 now. Should you have it in your power to send my any by the boat I would be glad. One of our negroes, owned by Robert Pain of Kentucky, has run away. I think he is in Franklin. Charles Rector, living at Mr. Barcroft’s, will know him. Send information on the road to St. Charles for he may be going to Kentucky., 1820 Sept 24
