Letter signed Gr. von Phul, Vincennes, to My Dear Henry [von Phul], St. Louis. We arrived here about half after one o’clock, pretty much fatigued but otherwise tolerable well. Saturday and Sunday being cool and cloudy kept us free from flies but on Monday we suffered considerable in crossing the grand prairie. My old grey is very thin but in great spirits. I have been careful to wash his back whenever we stop, and though it is a little rubbed we will all hold out to Lexington., 1819 Sept 1
