Letter signed Sara, New York City, to Vine [Colby]. New York and everybody in it (including myself) seem to be thinking of nothing but lost money. Most of what I have is in securities, and so many of them have reached the vanishing point. It is not possible for me to keep this apartment except for the duration of my lease. I have had to rush along with my short biography of Christina Rossetti. Finally I ran away to the country and am writing now in heavenly quiet in a Connecticut village.
