The sewer men, having finished all the principal sewers, are now busy building man-holes & making the connections to the several lots. I had a call today from a landscape gardener, named Hehl, who brought a very strong letter of recommendation from Ben Gratz. Jack Nisbet turned up here last week, and has dined with us twice. Lettter signed Alexander Rives Skinker, Harbor Springs, Michigan, to mother. I stayed at Weque until Thursday evening when I came over to the Point to stay with the Marrierres until tonight. Saw Rob, Julia Caldwell, Mr. Potter and Bishop McCormick (officiating at church), Philo Stevenson, Charlie Pettus, a Mr. Thomas. But the bay is not the same. There are hardly any sailboats out this year. Rob is reading a lot of theology. All the Galts send love to all the Skinkers.
