Letter signed T.K. Skinker to wife. The contractor said that if nothing unforeseen occurred, he could finish the house by the first of December. Aleck’s friend Guy Stude has the building of Elizabeth Randolph’s new house on the Price road. Mr. Tuckerman has turned up here. He is just as good company as ever and just as erratic. . . . I fear he is desperately poor. Speaking of the movement to appoint a bishop coadjutor, he highly commended Dean Davis for the place, & said that no clergyman in the East who was fit for it would accept the place on account of the general prejudice against Bishop Tuttle., 1910 Aug 29
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
