Letter signed Thos. T. Gantt [Thomas T. Gantt], St. Louis, to Jno. F. Darby [John F. Darby]. Darby is right in not taking a single unnecessary step in such slippery weather. He is surely joking in asking Gantt for aid in preparing his address at the University of Missouri. [filed in 1880 July-Nov], 1880 Nov 18

Letter signed Thos. T. Gantt [Thomas T. Gantt], St. Louis, to Jno. F. Darby [John F. Darby], St. Louis, Mo. Has read Darby’s book. Darby has given him a space disproportionate to his merits. He regrets Darby did not mention General Frank Blair, who came to St. Louis in 1842 and died in 1875. No one was more generous in attempting to heal the wounds left by the Civil War. Gantt hopes Darby will correct this omission in a future edition. Includes a newspaper clipping regarding The Mackay Ejectments, a real estate issue. (2 items) [filed in 1880 Dec], 1880 Dec 13

Letter signed F.M. Cockrell, U.S. Senate, Washington, to Jno. F. Darby [John F. Darby]. States he asked for instructions about copyrights, and did not ask if any had been taken out. He is glad it is all right. The article in the Republican does not surprise him. He knew the paper was against him. The question was settled by the people in the election of their Representatives. Out of 123 Democrats, he will have over 90 votes. Some St. Louis politicians seem determined to make a fight for any St. Louis man to beat him. This will only sway the County for him.
