Garner’s Music Store and Studio Recital Programs
Scope and Contents
The collection contains five programs and two tickets arranged chronologically from 1940 to 1946, from the 9th annual recital to the 15th annual recital. There are no programs from 1941 or 1942. Each recital was held at the Maplewood Masonic Temple. The programs list all musicians by name, instruments played, the selections performed, and mention the weekly Sunday morning Garner Family performance on KXOK and goods sold in the store. The 1940 program also lists the teachers.

Historical Sketch
Garner’s Music Store and Studio was located at 7202 Manchester Avenue in Maplewood, Missouri. Roma C. Garner (1898-1948) owned the store in the 1930s and 1940s. In 1950, after his death two years previously, Garner’s daughter, Mary Ellen Hobbs and her husband, Thomas G. Hobbs, ran the store.
