The Barn Dinner Theatre Photos/Programs/Reviews – What Did We Do Wrong?, ca. 1974 Oct

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 2

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection is comprised of programs, newspaper clippings, and photographs relating to Joe Schulte and his theater work in St. Louis. The items are arranged alphabetically and date from 1973 to 1989 with the following gaps: 1975, 1977-1979 and 1981-1987. The collection focuses mostly on Schulte’s acting and directing outside his job at St. Louis University High School. The exception is the 1976 production of Guys and Dolls by the St. Louis University Department of Theatre Arts, which Schulte directed. A newspaper clipping reveals that Schulte directed a summer production of Oklahoma by The Playmakers, a group of college and high school students (f.5). Another clipping explains Schulte’s role as production and technical adviser for the third annual Christmas Carols Festival. The festival was sponsored by the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and the St. Louis Christmas Carols Association (f.3). In 1974, Schulte acted in two productions at The Barn Dinner Theatre, 6 Rms Riv U and What Did We Do Wrong?, which were photographed by local photographer Michael D. Eastman. Dwayne Hickman, TV’s Dobie Gillis, starred in 6 Rms Riv U (f.1-2). There are programs, newspaper reviews, and photographs for both productions. Schulte directed the remainder of the productions represented in the collection: Nunsense and River Rambles at the Goldenrod Showboat and Tunnel of Love at the Good Times Dinner Theatre.
