Vol. 1 - Field Notebook, 1930-1937

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The notebook is a Eugene Dietzgen Co. Engineers’ Field Book containing printed charts and diagrams useful in surveys in addition to lined and graph pages containing field notes by an unidentified surveyor. The notebook pages are numbered. There is a handwritten note on the front cover: “Boonslick Road Survey Notes 1930.” Dates included within the notes for projects in St. Charles County span from May 1930 to September 1937. There are several identified projects in the notebook. However, none of the projects in the notebook are identified as being along Boonslick Road. The only notations that match the cover’s description include drawings of a road and its right of way (p.2-26). In addition to the survey notes, the surveyor also recorded dates, temperature, and weather conditions from May 16 to May 27, 1930. A list of projects for November 1933 (p.158) reveals that there are notes made for the Missouri Point Survey (p.56-108). In this project the surveyor used maps completed by County Surveyor Alfred Riske in 1931. Other project notations in the book include an island in the Missouri River (p.112-117), a survey for Nelson Bradshaw in September 1937 (p.118), a cross section of St. John’s Cemetery in September 1937 (p.120-137), and a cross section of a swimming pool site in October 1936 (p.138-156).
