Letter signed Thomas J. Stewart, No. 324 West 15th Street, New York, to John F. Darby, St. Louis. Gratified by receipt of Darby’s letter. He is surprised to find Darby so able a correspondent after so many years in legal pursuits, which are trying to the mind. Compliments Darby on his career. Darby has given the benefit of his wisdom to equity cases in St. Louis. When his time comes, hopes Darby will pass away in his sleep, like his old friend Beverly Allen. [filed in 1880 July-Nov], 1880 Sept 6
