Correspondence with Park Superintendent W.H. Dunn, Board President D.J. Haff, Park Engineer Fred Gabelman and H.C. Broadwell with reference to bubble fountains, Von Schrenk and Kammerer in St. Louis concerning specification for creosoting paving blocks, reference to the use of Catalpa trees for Arbor Day, and telegrams. Annual report to board from Kessler, memo to W.H. Dunn concerning civil service examination (January 10), "Exhibit of Requirements to be apportioned from the General Fund of Kansas City for 1911 with Recapitulation and Index" (March 10), park expenditures (March 25), and report to board regarding operations, improvements, and studies (April 17). Of interest is a letter from D.J Haff to Kessler dated August 24, Los Angeles, where he gives his impressions on its park system and refers to Swope Park as Kessler's "opus magnum." In Kessler's response, he points out that Henry D. Ashley publicly credited Frederick Law Olmstead with the design of the Kansas City park and boulevard system instead of Kessler. (Pages 13 and 18 of report dated April 17 in OVERSIZE with copies in file.) (90 pages), 1911
