Letter signed Flora [Byrne], Byrnham Wood, to My dear Eliza [Mrs. Mayer, Franklin Street, Baltimore]. Very glad because of the safe return of my husband and thank you for your kindness to him. He gave pleased accounts of Baltimore but was too harassed with his business to really enjoy himself. Aunt Flora will probably go back to Baltimore in the spring. I am angry with you and Edmond says you are prejudiced against this western country. A trip here in April or May would be delightful. Your trip here would cost no more than your Frostburg expedition. Individuals mentioned include Mr. Mayer, Flora, Edmond, Frank, Judge Perkins, Ben Eskridge, Major Craven, John, Virginia Poor, Edward, Brantz, and Jamie. Places mentioned include Baltimore, St. Louis, Frostburg, and New York. (4 pages), 1845 Aug 4
