Scope and Contents The collection consists of four land deeds. The two earliest deeds date 1831 and 1837 and described land acquired by Nicholas Long. The third is a Sheriff’s Deed in which Elbridge Payne purchased land from a Long family dispute in May 1860. The final item is a deed of trust concerning loans granted to Mary E. Payne by John P.
