The collection is comprised primarily of letters, with some accompanying photographs, written by the five oldest brothers in the Charles T. Kennedy family to their parents in St. Louis while they served in the military during World War II. The collection is comprised primarily of letters and greetings cards sent and received by Ken Paul, his girlfriend Marian Hentscher, his mother Edna Paul, his brother Bill Paul, and various friends and family members while the Paul brothers served in the Army during World War II. The letters are arranged chronologically and date from 1942 to 1946. The only item dated after 1946 is Ken Paul’s nametag for a reunion of the 302nd Fighter Command Squadron in October 2000.

Scope and Contents
The diary consists of one pre-printed, five-year diary and seven sheets of paper added to the volume. It dates from 17 December 1940 to 16 December 1941. The first entry, 17 December 1940, appears at the end of the volume in accordance with the calendar in the printed diary. Despite the volume being printed for five years of use, Saffa recorded one day on each page from 1940 to 1941.
