Unofficial Pride Parade Collection
Scope and Contents
The Unofficial Pride Parade Collection contains five color snapshots showing an unofficial Pride Parade, possibly in Forest Park. The parade features people riding in convertibles, some of whom are wearing extravagant headdresses and long dresses. Each car has a sign, several of which are illegible or partially legible. Two of the signs read: "Gus's" and "Red Bull, East St. Louis."
Photographs may show one of the first St. Louis pride parades, held in May or June 1973. This parade ran from the Red Bull Bar in East St. Louis through downtown St. Louis, ending at the cannon in Forest Park.
