Biographical / Historical

The first Tesson to arrive in St. Louis was Michel Desravines Tesson (1759-1845), born on the island of Santo Domingo in 1759. He came to the United States in 1793, settling in Philadelphia. In 1810 he moved to St. Louis, where he engaged in business. On February 14, 1811, he married Miss Adelaide Baroussel, who was also from Santo Domingo. The couple had two children who lived to adulthood: Edward P. Tesson (1812-1881) and Coralie Tesson (1823-1910). Michel Desravines Tesson died in New Orleans in 1845.

Coralie married Edward Polkowski (1812-1891) in 1842. Edward was born in Poland and engaged in the 1830 revolt against the Russian government. He arrived in the United States in 1834 and in St. Louis in 1835.

Edward P. married Lucia Marotte (1815-1897) in 1833. Their daughter, Noemie Tesson (1850-1937), married George Hamilton Hall (ca. 1845-1927) in 1873.
