Scope and Contents

The Rolla Wells Streett and Mary Lees Kennard Wedding Photograph Collection contains four photographs showing Mary Lees Kennard, Rolla Wells Streett, and their bridal party on April 22, 1931. Members of the large bridal party are identified. The bride is wearing a veil and a long-sleeved, satin wedding dress with a train, which was purchased at Scruggs, Vandervoort, and Barney. The wedding was held at St. Michael and St. George Church, and the reception took place at the bride's grandfather's house at 4 Portland Place. It is unclear where the photographs were taken.

Biographical / Historical

Rolla Wells Streett, grandson and namesake of St. Louis Mayor Rolla Wells, was born on January 3, 1904 and died April 11, 2001. He graduated from Princeton University in 1926 and entered into a career in finance and insurance. Mary Lees Kennard was born December 21, 1909 and died May 4, 1994. She attended Mary Institute and was a graduate of Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Conn. She was a special maid of honor in the 1929 Veiled Prophet Ball and volunteered at Edgewood Children's Home and St. Michael and St. George Episcopal Church. Rolla and Mary married on April 22, 1931, and the couple had 3 sons: Donald H., John K., and Robert W.
