Letter signed Edward Bliss, Lower Alton, to Elijah Bliss, West Springfield, Mass. Regarding business matters. I have sold since I commenced about 1,000 gallons of ardent spirits, of which about 700 was whiskey, by the barrel principally, at 40 to 45 cents/gal. I expect about 30 barrels whiskey up this week. It will not do for you to say that I have sold so much Liquor as the temperate part of community would not like it well., 1833 Feb 11
