Letter signed John Wentworth, Chicago to B. Emmons. You did great service in putting me in communication with Mr. Heald. Senator Davis’ son-in-law is working on finding descendants of Capt. Wells. When Mr. Heald was here, we learned that the mother of a lawyer here named Wolcott was a daughter of the massacred Capt. Wells by his Indian wife. When Heald was here, he spoke of a history of your county with a picture of his parents. Could you find me a copy with that picture? Jeff Davis was here the same day, but I did not know till later. Our people would have treated him very kindly and his experience in 29/30 would have been very interesting. (includes envelope), 1881 July 3
