Report of committee appointed by Foreman of the Grand Jury now in session for County of St. Charles to examine the condition of the jail, as required by law, signed Wm. C. Edwards, Sidney S. Woods, Samuel Keithly, Robert Collesur[?], John Gill, and G.C. Sibley. The upper or debtors’ floor is in unfinished state and ought to be put in order. The lower floor is occupied by a convict from Marion County and a man enslaved to the estate of Mr. Knoll. The condition of the room and occupants appears comfortable and secure.
