Contemporary copy of the deliberation for the Common at St. Charles, signed Dehault Delassus and James Mackay. Record of meeting. At the request of Louis Barrada, Syndic, and Charles Tayon, Captain, posted on the church door that all the inhabitants of this place would assemble today to decide whether the Common should be enlarged. The question having been presented for deliberation, the inhabitants unanimously voted that for the interest of the parish the closure begin at the side of property of Ant. Lamarche and continue down to a landmark in the woods near the house of Louis Buneau which has access to the Missouri. It was decided that the Syndic should determine the number of arpents comprised in this enlargement and report to the inhabitants about their rights in the Common. Since the inhabitants do not want to proceed without the approval of the Lieutenant Governor, they ask that he be notified. (4 pages, in French), 1804 Aug 1
