Letter signed J. Edgar, Kaskaskia, to Hon John Lucas, Esq., member of House of Representatives, Washington. Opinion that residents of the Illinois Territory and Indiana should be joined with the Louisiana Territory. Recites anxiety of area residents concerning the future status of their Territory under the United States, as they are “rather predisposed to entertain an unfavorable opinion of it from the experience of misfortunes predicated on Gen. Clark’s expedition against this country.” It has been suggested that they will be attached to the Indiana Territory, which would be an injustice.
