Letter signed D.M. Frost, Fort Ewell, Tex., to wife, St. Louis. I have written Genl. Harney to learn if I can return home as soon as my company is in. I have started my company on their return to my camp. I find Fort Ewell is exactly as when I left it. The unfinished adobe buildings will soon be a pile of mud. Maj. Buell is coming out as Adj. Genl. with Genl. Harney. If Genl. Harney does not give me a leave I shall certainly hand in my resignation., 1853 Jan 5
