Letter signed George H. Hall, Huntsville, Mo., to Willard P. Hall, St. Joseph. Sale will be next Thursday. Have had no offers for Jerry as yet and fear it will be difficult to sell him in this county…will take him to St. Joseph with me and hire him until Christmas. Will go to Glasgow Saturday and make arrangements for tombstones for Ma’s and Pa’s graves. Mary [Hall] left some poetry for Ma’s tombstone, which I think inappropriate; have concluded to have following inscribed instead: “Sacred to the memory of Statira Preble Hall. Born at York in the State of Maine, Died May 23rd, 1854, on her farm. She was a devoted wife…etc.” Family and business news. Individuals mentioned: William and Octavia [Hall]., 1854 June 15
