Letter signed William Russell, St. Louis, to George T.M. Davis. Doubt whether the deed and certificate of sheriff’s sale of Bostwick 6 acres could enable purchases to evict Bostwick…I would not administer on Gleason’s estate here for the amount due me…do not trouble to collect for my benefit the judgement against Widow Gleason…Mrs. Gleason, the administrator and all his agents (and I am not sure but the Judge of Probate with them) are, as I believe, a set of Dd villains… I know that James D. Gleason at the time of his death owed very little…the Dd loafers who have managed his estate have used it up and now intend to cheat the creditors out of everything…I am strongly inclined to bring suit direct against (Sheriff) Fry and his securities as Sheriff. Please send me, when you conveniently can, a list of every judgment prior to January 1839 against John Bostwick, in the circuit court at Edwardsville and in the Municipal court at Alton., 1839 Aug 22
