Honored Delassus’ request; his post is reduced to 32 men as more are needed for the Illinois country in case of war with England; advises that since the settlement has a sawmill he should have men bring goods on flat boats to New Orleans for trade in order that the inhabitants might flourish; further advises that Delassus work with his brother-in-law to send produce; asks Delassus to let him know how he gets along with the English.
