Letter signed W.W. Cayton, Fort Laramie, Nebraska, to Alex. Badger, St. Louis. Having just entered upon duty here I am pretty busy. I completed a letter to Brother Frank [M. Cayton] yesterday. There is a train of some eighteen wagons just arrived from Great Salt Lake City, containing some forty or fifty Mormon families, or rather their private effects and their young children. They number near two hundred in all, and I understand the majority of the women walked nearly all the way, a distance of six hundred miles. Individuals mentioned: Sister Alice [Badger Cayton], Cora [Badger Daniels], and Nephew [Charlie Cayton]., 1858 June 25
