Two items include: Letter signed C. Cibson, St. Louis, to Major John Biddle, dated August 7, 1855. Regarding your covenant with T. Hempstead heirs. I suggest the proceeds of the venture be divided thus: one third to you, one third to myself and one third to Mr. Picot. I suggest the whole thing be under the guidance of H.R. Gamble. Mention of Mrs. Wilson; Letter signed John Biddle, Geneva, to Gibson, dated September 6, 1855. This reached me from Paris today. There is so much vagueness in my reminiscences of what I may have done or authorized to be done that I am unwilling to take any step on my own responsibility. Nothing should be done without any step on my own responsibility. Northing should be done without its being fully explained to H.R. Gamble and a memo in writing. (4 pages), 1855 Aug 7-Sept 6

The election of United States Senator…Colonel Benton is quite out of question. Against Judge Atchison, many of the Whig members of the Legislature are committed. (1 page), 1855 Oct 12
