Letter signed William Carson, City of Jefferson, Missouri, to H.R. Gamble. Political discussion [similar to letter of December 1854]. Praise for Mr. Breckenridge whom I met. Gamble. Letter signed William H. Taylor, Palmyra, Missouri. Having had occasion to examine certain papers which are now in my possession, I find that you were attorneys for land of James F. Talliaferro in a suit against J.H. Lawrence and Games Catling, and that judgment was had against them in the St. Louis Circuit Court for about $6000. An alias writ issued to the Sheriff of this county dated April 26, 1845 has not been returned. If you have the power and will authorize Benjamin David and myself I have not little doubt that we could make the greater part of the money, provided the fee is reasonable. If you have not the power please let me know where Thomas Land resides. Samuel T. Glover of your city will endorse me as an attorney. (2 pages), 1855 Jan 16
