Letter signed Th. Reynolds, Fayette, Missouri, to H.R. Gamble, St. Louis. I have enclosed all the papers I have been able to find regarding the subject on which you wrote me. The contract between Dillon and Hempstead concerning New Madrid certificates, is [I seem to recollect] among the papers of the late Sp. Pettis, but am under the impression I gave it, with others, to Judge Wash to be handed to those interested. I have no recollection of seeing the assessment of February 1, 1823 mentioned in the receipt of Strother and Cozzens. If you fail to obtain from Judge Wash the necessary papers I will make another search. Individuals mentioned include Dillon, Hempstead, Sp. [Spencer] Pettis, Strother, Cozzens and Judge Robert Wash.
