Letter signed T.J. Boggs, Franklin, to H.R. Gamble. Comprised with Moore of Chariton rather than undergo a filthy suit. You seem to be surprised that certain persons here go for Todd, but the same individuals were equally surprised to hear you were for Miller. Thought you would be opposed to a man destitute of talents recommend solely by “tinsel flitter of military fame… and whose stable political opinions… relief &c are at least doubtful.” With regard to Davy there is no comparison between him and Miller as to education and general information. Like Duff Green he does not oppose an administration for the purpose of obtaining office. I pray for his success. Several of us decided to run him before Barton even knew it. Todd should have 600 to 800 majority in the circuit. Miller will not get a majority in one county out of nine. Individuals mentioned include Redd, Barye, General Miller, Barton, Benton, Davy, Duff Green, Lane, Carr, Hood, [David?] Todd, Easton, Tompkins, George Williams, Moore and Tabret Johnston. Places mentioned include Boonville, Chariton and Howard. (4 pages), 1825 Nov 3
