Letter of N. Paschall, St. Louis, to J.F. Darby. Recommends J.W. White, applicant for mail delivery between St. Louis and Galena. White had applied for the same office between St. Louis and Louisville but prefers the Galena route. Complains about eastern mail which St. Louis receives but three times a week. Mentions that the River is full of ice. Asks that Darby see the letters on file of Gamble in relation to the Terre Haute route and insist upon its adoption. The Legislature is going it with a rush on railroads; it will pass, in all probability, with Missouri, Kansas, Southwestern and soon mountain, with $7 or $8 million state credit.
