Scope and Contents
The collection consists of two items. The first is a bound, unused season ticket booklet for the St. Louis Cardinals regular 2020 season, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second is a certificate recognizing Barbara and Christine Kelly-Cox as members of Cardboard Nation.

Historical Sketch
Barbara and Christine Kelly-Cox are long-time St. Louis Cardinals season ticket holders and had received their ticket booklet for the 2020 season when the COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions across the nation. Major League Baseball initially announced a delay to the start of the season in March. By June, MLB implemented a shortened 60-game season to start on July 24, 2020. Due to restrictions placed crowd sizes for public events, the St. Louis Cardinals instituted Cardboard Nation. For a $70 fee ($50 for season ticket holders), fans sent in photos of themselves or loved ones, including pets, that were printed in high resolution on waterproof coroplast and placed in seats at Busch Stadium. These became known as Flat Fans. The club received over 6,000 photos. The proceeds went to Cardinals Care, the team’s charitable foundation which helps youth in the St. Louis community.
