Biographical / Historical

The John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Homes began in 1900 when John L. Ziegenhein and his brothers opened a facility at Cherokee and Texas Streets. In 1931, John, Sr. opened another facility on his own, for his sons, at 7020 Gravois Avenue and his sons opened a second facility on Lemay Ferry Road in May 1995. Later that year, because the Ziegenheins had no heirs, ownership passed to key employees.
