Biographical Sketch

The Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild is a quilting guild started by Jean Ameduri in 1977 at the Gravois Library in St Louis. The group currently meets in Shrewsbury, Missouri. The guild also has an online presence via their website and Facebook.

The collection is arranged in the following series:

The Administrative Series contains by-laws, meeting minutes, correspondence, and programs. The series also includes information on founder Jean Ameduri and member Cuesta Benberry, as well as binders, folders, and newspaper clippings with other information about the guild.

The Newsletter Series contains newsletters of the Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild from 1977 to 2014. The newsletters contain information about various guild programs including quilt shows and a presentation by Ricky Tims in April 2010.

The Quilt Show Series contains quilt show information with reports, correspondence, and programs from 1977 to 2015. The series also contains photographs from quilt shows in 1995 and 1999 and binders created for quilt shows from 1997 to 2013.

The Scrapbooks Series contains photographs and programs compiled by the guild historian showcasing guild quilt shows from 1986 to 2004. The scrapbooks also contain newspaper clippings regarding Promoting Enduring Peace, an organization fostering peace between the Soviet Union and the United States; the Women of Color Network; Cuesta Benberry; Frank Foley’s D-Day remembrance; a small obituary of quilter Adelia Justice; Quilt Consciousness; and other quilt related information. These scrapbooks include 17 folders and four bound volumes.

Donor Information

The Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild Collection was donated by the Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild of Greater St. Louis from 2005 to 2017 (accession numbers 2005-161, 2006-168, 2007-171, 2011-086, 2012-195, 2014-135, 2017-004).
