Biographical Sketch
The Belva Manufacturing Company was a St. Louis African American company started by Harry G. Douglas on April 14, 1931. The company sold women’s hair oil and beauty supplies. It quickly grew to a regional and then national industry leader for pressing oil with their product "Hair-Rep" and continued production into the 1980s.
