Historical Sketch
John Weitzel opened J.L. Weitzel & Co. in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, in April 1884. The company ordered clothing, hats, and shoes from various manufacturers in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1984, the store celebrated its centennial and admitted that, as a tradition, it was still open only one day a week, Wednesdays from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M.
