Scope and Contents

The collection consists of two autograph books and various items relating to Rose Fonte Fronckewicz’s education and school reunions. The folders are arranged alphabetically by school name.

Items from Walbridge Elementary School include one autograph book dated 1938 and notes about reunions in 1988 and 1989. The remainder of the collection relates to Rose’s senior year at Hadley Technical School in 1942. There is an autograph book, a report card, senior song and poem, a class photo, commencement program, and a list of 1942 graduates.

Biographical Sketch

Rose Fonte was born in 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri to Thomas and Lucille (Legamaro) Fonte. She attended Cyrus P. Walbridge Elementary School (5000 Davison) in the Walnut Park East neighborhood. She graduated from Walbridge School in 1938 and went to high school at Herbert S. Hadley Technical School (3405 Bell Ave.). Rose graduated in 1942 with a sewing degree.

On 7 June 1947, Rose married Carl Fronckewicz and they had two children: Carol Fronckewicz Jones (b.1950) and Nancy Fronkewicz (b.1953). Rose Fonte Fronckewicz died in St. Louis on October 16, 2009.
