The collection includes Post 72 meeting notes and minutes compiled by Oscar J. Hammer from 1960 to 1966, information about “Operation Show Your Colors,” 17 membership applications, membership rosters, by-laws, and brochures dated 1952-1969.
The first folder contains membership information including applications dated 1953-1956, membership rosters, by-laws of the post dated 1952-1960s, and brochures for the American Legion dated 1966 and 1969. The second and third folders contain meeting minutes compiled by Oscar J. Hammer dated 1960-1966.Dates

Biographical Sketch
Jackson Johnson Jr. Post 72 was an American Legion chapter in St. Louis named in honor of Jackson Johnson Jr., the son of International Shoe Company chairman Jackson Johnson. Originally named “Jackson Johnson Jr. Post of the Tank Corps,” Post 72 was created in 1919 by men who had been in the Tank Corps with Johnson, who died of influenza or pneumonia on the way to the front during World War I. Johnson gave a house at 4160 Lindell Blvd. to Post 72 in 1924. Jackson Johnson Jr. Post 72 is no longer on the American Legion website.
