Biographical Sketch
Joyce (Joy) Roberts Hutchins was born to Brebner and Elois Walker in Erie, Pennsylvania, on December 17, 1927. The Walkers opened the Walker School of Dance in the Ozark Mountains when Joy was a young girl. Joy secured her first professional dance job at age eighteen at the St. Louis Municipal Opera (The Muny). She danced in New York and Las Vegas with stars such as Betty Grable and Eddie Foy. Joy taught at the Roberts School of Dance in Las Vegas for sixteen years, and she was an instructor at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, for almost thirty years.
