Biographical Sketch

Tina Teresa “Sweet-T” Pihl, born in 1970, is a native of Canada and is one of five adopted children. Pihl’s family moved to Connecticut when she was in preschool. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Yale University and a master’s degree in city planning from M.I.T. Pihl established a career in the field of housing and community and economic development in St. Louis, Boston, Denver, Washington D.C., and Appalachia. On April 6, 2021, Pihl was elected alderperson of the 17th Ward in the City of St. Louis by sixteen votes. The City of St. Louis undergoes redistricting every ten years, after each census. In December 2021, the Board of Aldermen adopted a new ward map, which reduced the number of wards from twenty-eight to fourteen. Pihl lost the general election for the 9th Ward in April 2023.
