Historical Sketch
The first Metro East Pride Fest was held in Belleville, Illinois, in 2008. In 2010, the Metro East Pride of Southwestern Illinois incorporated as a nonprofit organization with the primary purpose of holding an annual pride festival. The mission of Metro East Pride is to encourage unity, celebrate diversity, promote equality, and advocate for inclusion of all persons on the LGBTQIA spectrum throughout Southwestern Illinois and the Metropolitan St. Louis region.
